La côte de la Croix Neuve is the road to go on Mount Mimat (which overlooks the city of Mende), also to reach the Valdonnez basin. Its average gradient is 10.1% and its length is 3.1 kilometers.

The climb was firs included in Tour de France in 1995. On July 14, 1995, the 12th stage of the 1995 Tour, Laurent Jalabert was the victorious a little higher than the end of the climb, on the Aerodrome of Mende – Brenoux.
