NOTES

  1. The roots of Pinarello can be traced back to the beginning of World War II. The making of the Pinarello began in Catena di Villorba, towards the end of the 1940s, when, Giovanni Pinarello began making bicycles at the factory of Paglianti, at the age of fifteen. He continued making bicycles throughout his amateur cycling career. Bicycle manufacturing for the Pinarello family can be traced as far back as 1922 when Giovanni’s cousin Alessandro was already making bicycles in a small factory. Giovanni Pinarello first opened a bike factory in 1952 in Treviso, where Pinarello is still based.

In 1960 came the sponsoring of the first professional team, the Mainetti. The first victory at the Giro d’Italia in 1975 by Fausto Bertoglio (Jolly Ceramica team).

Miguel Indurain, five-time consecutive Tour de France winner rode Pinarello bikes to victories at five Tours de France, two Giri d’Italia, an Olympic victory, a world time trial championship, an hour record, and many other international victories.
