Vuelta a España 2014 Stage 7 start city, Alhendín is a city located in the province of Granada, Spain.

It is one of the largest municipalities in Granada’s metropolitan belt, just 7km away and in constant expansion. Its Mudejar style Parish Church houses the image of the patron saint, the Immaculate Conception, sculpted by master Pedro de Mena and included in the General Catalogue of Spanish Art.

Its attractions also include its multiple, varied landscapes that exist within its territory. In the heart of the Vega de Granada and next to the Suspiro del Moro, it possesses a historical legacy left behind by the Arabs and the Catholic Kings.

A semi-artificial cave from Roman times still remains in Montevive, which offers visitors an incomparable tour, just like the Sierra Nevada that sits opposite it. Its gastronomy, services, green spaces and annual cultural and sporting activity programme make Alhendin an unbeatable destination.

In 2012, Alhendín received the award for the best sports management from the Sports Managers Association of Andalucia.

Vuelta a España 2014 Stage 7 finish city, Alcaudete is a city located in the province of Jaén, southern Spain.

It is home to a 12th-14th Moorish castle, located on the top of the hill commanding the town. Other sights include the Santa María la Mayor (15th century).

Alcaudete has become a sporting, cultural and touristic benchmark of the Province of Jaen thanks to the wide range of activities visitors can partake in 365 days a year.

The Calatravo Castle is the municipality’s main tourist attraction. Originally an Islamic Fortress, it went on to become the fortress of the Military Order of Calatrava.

The fortress was the centre of protection for a very commercially active medina, located in an important road and commercial network, and was militarily sought-after by Muslims and by Christians alike. Currently, it is one of the most important and best-preserved emblematic monuments in the Province of Jaen, and is fully accessible to handicapped people.

Its natural surroundings and its landscapes offer enviable views from such locations as the Ahillos Mountain Range, the Vía Verde del Aceite or the shores of the San Juan and Viboras rivers.

Although, the main highlights in its natural landscape are the three lakes: Tumba de la Graja, Laguna Honda, and Laguna del Chinche, these last two being the only existing Natural Reserves in the area.
