A trip down to the beach to enjoy the sun and fun can be a great vacation for families and individuals during the summer and even the winter. When your family hits the beach, there are a lot of activities that you are able to do from enjoying water sports to swimming and so much more.

One thing that you should consider when you want to be active while enjoying all that the beach has to offer is to take a beach cruiser bike trip with family and friends. The beach cruiser bike is going to be fitted with balloon tires and allows for an upright sitting posture. This gives a unique feel while you are riding on the beach, helping you navigate better than before.

When you decide to go on one of these bike trips, there are a few important tips that you can keep in mind to help make it more enjoyable and fun for everyone who decides to come along. Some of the simple tips that you can use to help you during your beach cruiser bike trip include:

Check the Tires

Before you jump on the bike, take the time to check the tires and make sure they are in good shape. You want to check whether there are any cuts and to ensure that the tires are not too worn out before you jump right on. If you notice that the tread looks pretty worn out, then look into replacing the tire or using another bike to make sure you avoid an accident.

Keep the Bike Lubricated

Another step that you need to work on is to keep this bike lubricated before you decide to use it. Lubricating the bike may seem like excess and a waste of time, but it will help to prevent some of the excess wear that may show up on the unit when there is a lot of friction while riding along on the beach.

This lubrication is going to ensure that you can have a smooth and peaceful cruise on the beach, avoiding problems that could cause inconvenience and may even ruin your trip at the same time. If you forget to do this, it is going to cause a lot of issues and can even make it so that you can’t enjoy the bike ride at all.

How can you tell that it is time to add some lubrication to your bike before taking it on a beach cruise? You should listen for some of the squeakings and check to see whether the bike appears dry. Adding a few drops of lubricant between the barrel adjusters and the lever pivots will help you out with this.

As you use the lubricant, make sure that you check that it does not drip on everything. If it does, then you may end up causing some damage to the different parts of the bike. Use just a few drops on each area and then wipe them off when you are done.

Clean the Bike

It is a good idea for you to clean the bike off, both before you hop on and go for a ride and when the ride is done. You want to make sure that the bike is always going to be as clean as possible. This helps to slow down some of the wear and tear that happens on the bike while also increasing the performance so that you have a more enjoyable ride.

Cleaning the bike does not have to be difficult. You can use a damp cloth on it in most cases. If you keep up with the work, then this should be enough. However, if the bike is very dirty, then you can wash it down and do a good scrub on the bike to make sure that the debris and dirt are taken off and will not cling to it. Make sure that the bike gets dried off first too.

Avoid Sand

Now, this one can be difficult when you plan to ride a bike on the beach. Doing some of the careful cleanings that we discussed above will make a difference and help to keep things clean. You really need to be alert about the sand getting into your gears or the chain of the bike.

If you allow the sand to get into the gear or the chains of the bike, then it can easily cause damage to the bike overall and you may have to repair it or get a new one. The sand will be able to cause some friction between the metal parts, which can wear down everything and lowers how effectively the bike can work.

Try to be careful when you go on the sand and then clean the bike. This will help you notice if there is a lot of sand present that you need to be worried about and give you a chance to clean it out.

Keep the Bike Safe

When riding your bike, you need to be aware of the safety of you and the bike. Make sure to mind all of the traffic signs when you ride the bike and wear all of the safety equipment as well. When you leave the bike somewhere after riding, make sure that you lock it up so that no one is able to steal it.

When you are at home, put the bike away someplace that is not easy for others to see, someplace where it will not get dirty or wet either.

Enjoying Your Beach Cruiser Bike Trip

Going on a beach cruiser bike trip can be a lot of fun for everyone involved. It can give you a ton of sights to see around the beach and keeps you active while you soak up some of the wind and rays at the same time. Follow some of the tips above to make sure that you can get the most out of your beach cruiser bike trip each time.
