Peter Sagan, the young Slovak rider of Italian team Cannondale, has not been seen since his video apology to podium girl Maja Leye after his behavior on the Tour of Flanders podium. The two were expected to meet at the Brabantse Pijl race today because Maja works for race organizer Flanders Classics. Sagan gave flowers to Maya, so it seems his apology had been accepted.
Sagan found Maja and gave her flowers today, and apologized to her again, in person. It seems like the apology was accepted.
Before the race, Sagan told La Gazzetta Dello Sport that:
“I’ll see her again and I hope I can find a way for her to forgive me.”
“It was a joke. What else do you think it was? The problem is that some people didn’t understand it. But I apologized to her because she didn’t like it.”
