Mark Cavendish wins Tour of Turkey 2014 stage 8, Istanbul (featured)

Today it was the last stage of the Tour of Turkey 2014 (Istanbul-Istanbul), the 50th edition of the race. I went to watch the stage.

Natnael Berhane (Tour of Turkey 2013) — Natnael Berhane (Team Europcar) won the queen stage of Presidential Tour of Turkey atop Göğübeli Mountain Pass, and it was one of the bigger stage wins by a black-african rider, if not the biggest. With winning a mountaintop finish at the age of 22, Berhane showed us that he is a real talent. Here is a nice quote from Berhane after the stage:
"To win such a stage is wonderful. Europcar is a big team, and I hope to become a rider like Thomas Voeckler or Pierre Rolland. I was looking at these guys on TV and today, even in Africa, people have been able to see me win on TV."

Road Cycling in Istanbul

A group ride — Various research studies have indicated that engaging in cardiovascular exercise regularly can significantly improve one's brain functioning by improving memory and enhancing concentration among other brain functions. This is because cardiovascular exercises increase blood flow into the brain, therefore, ensuring that the brain has an adequate supply of oxygen for its optimal functioning. You can incorporate cycling as your preferred form of cardiovascular exercise. Other studies have linked cycling with rebuilding the hippocampus brain cells which begin to deteriorate at the age of 30.

More than a year ago, I wrote another article also titled “Road cycling in Istanbul” for the site for-cycling.com. Some good people reached me using the contact info in the article. Some others asked me some questions about cycling in Istanbul and I tried to guide them.

So I decided to write another article, and include it some frequently asked questions, and some photos of me and my friends.
