American bicycle manufacturer Cannondale has revealed its new models: New SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD and the new generation of the aluminum CAAD (Cannondale advanced aluminum design) series: CAAD12. Cannondale has skipped the number 11 after CAAD10 and give the new bike the number 12. They went with 12 because they felt it was too big a leap in performance to call it an 11.

Cannondale Supersix EVO Hi-MOD 2016
The new Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD is billed as the ultimate road racing machine with its balancing stiffness, road-smoothing compliance, pinpoint handling, and efficient aerodynamics into one lightweight package. A wider BB30a bottom bracket shell and asymmetrically oversized chainstays improve power transfer, while a redesigned frontend and all-new fork offer pinpoint handling and control. According to Cannondale, the new EVO has 11% more Bottom Bracket Stiffness (63N/mm) and 12% more Headtube Stiffness (103N/deg) than the previous models. The bike is compatible up to 28c tires for more comfort over the cobbled roads.
The new EVO features subtle TAP (Truncated Aero Profile) tube shapes in the down tube, seat tube, and seat stays, as well as a narrower headtube and thinner TAP profile fork blades. These improvements lead to 6 watts/60 gram drag reduction than the previous EVO.
With the new ultra-light SPEED SAVE fork, new 25.4mm SAVE seatpost and HollowGram cranks, the new EVO is lighter than ever: over 65-gram system weight reduction than the previous models.
The new Cannondale Supersix EVO Hi-MOD is coming with five different builds.
Cannondale has and still does take aluminum more seriously than any other brand and considers it a point of pride to be the best. The last two grand tours (Giro d’Italia 2003-Gilberto Simoni, 2004-Damiano Cunego) and last worlds championships (2002-Mario Cipollini) won on aluminum bikes were Cannondales.
The new CAAD12 is coming with seven different builds, three of them are disk-brake versions. The most important feature of the CAAD12 is that the complete system weight (frame, fork, headset, seatpost) is whooping 200 grams lighter than the CAAD10 if you choose the option with the hi-mod fork, while the standard model will still be 116 grams lighter. Frame weight on its own is 1.098 grams, which is a 52g saving over the CAAD10.
“Aluminati” is the new describing-slogan of the CAAD12 series. According to the Cannondale, the new CAAD12 is 10% stiffer at the head tube and 13% stiffer at the bottom bracket thanks to two technologies: the first is not new, Cannondale calls it SmartForm construction and it involves hydroforming, tapering, butting, mechanical shaping, double-pass smooth welds, and 3D machining. The second technology is brand new and what Cannondale credits with much of the bike’s improvements -Tube Flow modeling. It’s something quite similar to what BMC calls ACE and employs in carbon design. The engineer defines the characteristics the tube must have, from stiffness and compliance to clearance for tires and basic dimensions. Tube Flow modeling software then creates and tests hundreds of virtual designs to find an optimal solution with the optimal material distribution.
The comfort of the CAAD12 increased over the CAAD10 with the use of Speed Save micro-suspension in the totally redesigned chainstays, seat stays, and seat tube. At the front, that technology is incorporated in the one-piece BallisTec fork, which claims six percent better lateral stiffness and 10 percent greater compliance. Along with the new SuperSix EVO, the CAAD12 also uses the 25.4mm seatpost ported over from the Synapse. This thinner post offers more flex, and Cannondale claims it is 36 percent more compliant than a comparable 27.2mm post.
There are 7 different builds of CAAD 12.
1. CAAD12 Black Inc
This bike actually features the same Hi-Mod fork as used on the Evo. The complete package is claimed to weigh 6.74 kg in a size 56. Impressive for an aluminum bike.
