WOMEN’S DAY: the Granfondo Stelvio Santini on June 6 is celebrating its female entrants with a new eco-friendly special women’s jersey.
More and more women are tackling Gran Fondos. Now for the epic Stelvio classic, they will have a new specially designed jersey made from recycled Polartec fabrics. Aside from the jersey, which must be worn during the race, Santini has also created an entire coordinating kit which Granfondo Stelvio Santini entrants can pre-order from the event site or purchase from its expo area in Bormio.
As their involvement at the forefront of the cycling world continues to grow, women are not just choosing the sport to get fit, but also for the emotional rewards it provides. There is no greater emotional rush than competing and this year, the Granfondo Stelvio Santini is welcoming women cyclists with a dedicated jersey created especially for them to wear during the event on Sunday, June 6, and then to take home as a great trophy!
Designed and manufactured by Santini Cycling Wear, which has been developing women’s ranges since the 1980s, is not just designed for the female body but is environmentally friendly too. The official event jersey comprises two Polartec® fabrics made from recycled PET bottles and comes in compostable packaging supplied by TIPA®, an Israeli company that has been producing completely compostable packaging since 2010.
The first of the Polartec® fabrics used in the official 2021 Granfondo Stelvio Santini jersey is light, breathable, odor-resistant and 100% recycled Polartec® Power Dry recycled, for the front and for the back pockets, as it is the most advanced next-to-skin moisture management system. The second is exceptionally breathable, wicking, and cooling Polartec® Delta recycled, which is used for the back of the jersey for superior breathability and moisture dispersion in that area.
The graphic used for the jersey is new too and was created exclusively by local Bergamo illustrator Elenia Beretta. It features a face made up of different elements that symbolise cycling: the eye is a bicycle wheel, the eyebrow a chain, the temple of the sunglasses is a handlebar, the mouth a saddle and the hair the hairpins of the Stelvio that riders will be tackling during the climb up the hill. Colour-wise, Santini has gone with navy blue with strawberry pink detailing.
To complete the kit and create a perfectly coordinated outfit, Santini has also designed bibshorts, gilet, gloves, and socks featuring the same graphic and colors as the jersey. These can be pre-ordered by paid-up entrants from www.granfondostelviosantini.com and will also be for sale in the Granfondo Stelvio Santini in Bormio.
