Trek Madone 2013: Stiffer, Lighter, More Aero

Trek Madone 2013 series are coming with improvements to aerodynamics, weight, and stiffness. 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7-series are OCLV carbon, while 2 series are alloy. The top of the line model, Trek Madone 7.9, at 40 kph in a 10° crosswind, claiming to save 25 watts over the prior model (distance not specified). In addition to the aerodynamic improvements, frame weight has dropped down to 750 grams (7-series) (from 915g to 750g, a 165g savings). Compared to the previous 7 series of Trek Madone, it cuts almost 200 grams from the frame and fork without diminishing ride quality or stiffness.

Trek Madone 6 and 7 series continue to be “Made in the United States”.

Cannondale SuperSix Evo Nano

Cannondale’s high-end frameset SuperSix Evo now even lighter: the new Cannondale SuperSix Evo Nano frameset has a claimed weight of 645 grams. SuperSix frames are in Cannondale’s product family since 2006. The SuperSix Evo was launched last year. And for 2013, the new SuperSix, “Evo Nano” announced.

Cycling technology is on Mars

On August 6, 2012, at 05:17 UTC, NASA’s Curiosity rover has landed successfully on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater on Mars. The U.S. bicycle manufacturer Litespeed has been a contractor and consultant to NASA for projects that require titanium-intensive sub-assemblies including the landing gear on the Curiosity.

Peter Sagan’s Cannondale SuperSix Evo Tourminator

Peter Sagan, the young Slovakian rider of team Liquigas-Cannondale has made a Tour de France debut this year and won the sprinter’s green jersey. He used a custom-design Cannondale Evo, nicknamed “Tourminator” while achieving this success.

The US-based bicycle company Cannondale supplies bikes to the world-tour team Liquigas-Cannondale. For Peter Sagan, they have pulled out the stops with an impressive rendition of the Terminator (the cyborg assassin played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the classic 1984 science-fiction film) across the front of the team’s SuperSix Evo Hi-Mod. Despite Tour de France is a race where the very latest products are usually raced, the Liquigas-Cannondale team was on the current Evo, not the new and lighter Evo Nano. The new Evo Nano cuts about 40 grams using an improved carbon-fiber layup.

Vuelta a España 2012 Stage 4 Details and Results

Vuelta a España 2012 Stage 3 is a 155.3 km mountain stage with summit finish from Faustino V to Eibar (Arrate). It is the first mountainous stage of la Vuelta.

For the second year in a row, the Vuelta a España will arrive in the Basque Country, and it is expected that with the spectators of Bask People, the atmosphere on the climbs will be incredible.
