Inspired by the rugged terrain of the Belgian cycling classic, Santini’s new Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2022 collections are a brilliant celebration of the legendary La Doyenne: separate kits for men and women coordinate with a jacket and a range of accessories featuring a signature mountain range motif.

The 24th of April brings a double whammy on the road cycling calendar: the classic men’s Liège-Bastogne-Liège but also the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes. La Doyenne is the oldest of the five Monuments of Cycling and since its first edition in 1892, it has been raced in the Wallonia region of Belgium. The riders traverse a stunningly magical landscape with gorgeous forests as their backdrop.

“We chose the green of the forests the race runs through as the color for the line,” says Santini’s Creative Director Fergus Niland. “Specifically, wood green for the men’s and petrol green for the women’s kits”.

Aside from the various shades of green, a stylized mountain range motif also references the 11 Côtes de Liege – the merciless “walls” that strike terror in the hearts of even the most hardened cyclists.

The men’s line comprises a jersey, bib shorts, technical t-shirt, and base layer. The women’s range is the same aside from the shorts, which don’t have any braces. The jacket is made from Polartec® Power Shield® Pro, a waterproof fabric (5,000mm rating) that is also light and breathable, while the accessories coordinate with the rest of the collection.

The new Liège-Bastogne-Liège collection is the result of agreements signed between Santini and A.S.O. to further deepen a partnership that also spans the supply of the leader jerseys for the Tour de France and capsule collections for all of the other races on the A.S.O. circuit.

The collection is available from the Santini website as well as from select cycling stores worldwide.

About Santini Cycling Wear

Santini Cycling Wear was founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini who spotted a market for technical cycling clothing as a result of his abiding passion for the sport and competition. In what would seem like a revolutionary and contrarian choice today, the Bergamo-based company made the pivotal decision to design and manufacture all of its products exclusively in Italy. Each item is designed and developed by a design team with a deep-rooted passion for the two-wheel world to meet four key requirements: fit, performance, comfort, and durability.

Santini currently produces 5,000 items of clothing per day and exports 80% of its output. It is deeply committed to ongoing investment in researching and developing innovative textiles and new production methods. However, people (athletes) remain its central focus as it continues to refine its creations to allow cyclists to pursue their sporting passions in a comfortable but inimitably stylish kit.
