Earlier this year, the Italian company has released an 80th Anniversary Groupset, which is mechanical, has the quality of Super Record level but labeled 80th Anniversary group with a Matte finish. Recently, Vincenzo Nibali of Astana won the Giro d’Italia 2013 edition with a Specialized Tarmac equipped with Campagnolo 80th Anniversary Groupset.

Campagnolo celebrates its 80th anniversary: Campagnolo is one of the most historic companies in cycling, and the Global Cycling Network (GCN) was invited to their exclusive 80th-anniversary celebrations, alongside some of the legends of the sport including Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain. The GCN interviewed icons of cycling to find out just how much passion there is for Campagnolo. Eddy Merckx spent the best part of his career on their groupsets, Miguel Indurain has never ridden anything but Campy. Both men are passionate about the brand. The GCN also spoke with legendary Italians, Ernesto Colnago, and Fausto Pinarello to find out how deep the friendships and collaborations run in this mystical part of Italian cycling heritage.

Here is the statement from Campagnolo below:

It was a memorable day, a moment of great celebrations and intense emotions.

A fantastic journey through the history and Campagnolo products, accompanied by Beppe Conti and testimonies and stories of the biggest stars of cycling.

Guests of the day Alfredo Martini with his magical stories, Vittorio Adorni, Jan Janssen, Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser, Greg Lemond, Miguel Indurain, Alex Zanardi e Fabrizio Macchi.

A parade of champions called to pay tribute to the inventiveness of Campagnolo, an undisputed brand in the world of cycling.

But the day was rounded off with an exciting tour inside the factory where the participants were able to admire the details and workmanship of our products, the know-how learned in many years of passion and dedication.

We thank the celebrities, friends, and all the guests for having shared with us an exciting day but also an important milestone for all that Campagnolo is.
