All Around eMTB 2022 entries open on February 15

It’s a date! Entries for the maiden edition of the All Around eMTB open on February 15th, 2022, offering fans the chance to sign up for what promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled and convivial event specifically for e-MTBs.

Scheduled to take place between July 5th and 9th 2022, the All Around eMTB is spread across four stages that wind their way through four stunning localities in the Val d’Aosta. The 200-kilometer circular route starts and finishes in Cogne with overnight stops at Gressoney, Antey-Saint-André, and Valpelline. Competitors have the option to tackle the last two stages only in the short 100-kilometer version.

What makes this event so special, however, is the fact that the e-bikers will be constantly surrounded by the most iconic peaks in the Alps. The route was specifically designed to ensure that there is a hill of over 2,700 meters on each of the days with spectacular views of the epic Valle d’Aosta 4,000-meter peaks, from the Gran Paradiso to Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and Mont Blanc.

The race route includes technical stretches with daily distances of around 50 kilometers and an average elevation gain of 2,000 meters D+.

But the nerve center of the entire event will be the All Around Camp village with a huge canvas tent for Après Course refreshments with typical Val d’Aosta food and beer in addition to mechanical assistance at the end of each stage. There will also be plenty of music because this will be the time for everyone to get together and kick back as they await the announcement of the classification for the stage and listen to the daily briefing.

Race Format

An e-MTB-only event on the National Italian Cycling Federation’s calendar, the All Around eMTB slots neatly into the Marathon category of the Enduro sector. Each stage sees all the competitors line up at the start for the off. Then at the halfway point on the route, the clock stops and there is a compulsory stop-off in a mountain refuge to give competitors a chance to get some refreshments, rest and charge their bikes.

Each e-biker must start the second half of the stage no sooner than one hour and no later than two hours after the beginning of their stop-off. All participants must ensure they have the necessary equipment and kit to cycle safely in the high-altitude Alpine environment and cope with variable weather conditions.

They must be completely self-sufficient also in terms of managing their battery, clothing and hydration reserves. They must also be able to carry out minor repairs on their bike which they must also treat with the care required to ensure they can safely complete the four stages.

Lastly, all All Around eMTB competitors must be able to use GPS tracking as the route will only be physically marked at specific points.
