Vuelta a España 2013 Stage 2 is a mountain stage with summit finish from Pontevedra to Alto da Groba. It is the first summit finish of this year’s Vuelta. The length of the course is 177.7 km.
The opening stage, Vuelta a España 2013 stage 1 is a Team Time Trial (TTT) stage from Vilanova de Arousa to Sanxenxo. The length of the completely flat course is 27.4 km.
Vuelta a España 2013 edition will start in Vilanova de Arousa on August 24th, Saturday, and finish in Madrid on September 15th, Sunday. Team Colombia unveiled the new bikes they will ride in the 2013 season. Italian bike manufacturer Wilier Triestina will equip the Escarabajos (see notes 1) in 2013 with its top-range racing model: Wilier Triestina Zero7.
Previously, it is announced that Wilier Triestina would no longer be the bike supplier to Italian team Lampre, from the beginning of the 2013 season. The Italian bicycle manufacturer was supplying bikes to the team for 10 years. The Italian team will use Merida bikes in the 2013 cycling season.
Paul Kimmage, journalist and former pro cyclist, has doubts about Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky, suggests that their dominance at Tour de France 2012 is suspicious.
Previously, during the Tour de France in July, Kimmage has said that he believes Team Sky was not as transparent as they promised when the team was founded. He had added that: “People ask me how I feel about Wiggins leading the Tour de France – I don’t know, I can’t answer the question. When asked about doping, the answers from Wiggins now sound the same as with Armstrong and Floyd.”
